Since 2005, we have tested over 500 sugar pines and have identified 66 Major Gene Resistant seed trees in the Tahoe–Truckee region.  We have tested 150 western white pines and discovered 4 resistant trees – 3 at Heavenly and 1 at Kirkwood! With help from school children and volunteers of all ages, we plant our resistant sugar pine seedlings every spring and fall.
