Introducing: Lauren Benefield

OUR NEW PROGRAM ASSISTANT & LEAD WATER WARRIOR

We are thrilled to have Lauren Benefield on our team this summer - and (hopefully) beyond! She immediately applied to our summer part-time job opportunity and, when we met her, we knew that she'd be the perfect person to lead our summer Watering Evenings and offer general operational and administrative support.

Lauren always has a smile on her face and a has a way with people. She's organized, a fast-learner and a fun and kindhearted educator and leader.

Lauren is currently completing her second term as an Environmental Educator AmeriCorps Volunteer. She came to her current position at the South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD) via Bannack State Park in Dillon, Montana where she was an Education Specialist AmeriCorps Volunteer. Before that... well, let's just say that Lauren likes to travel for meaningful work and experiences in diverse places! Among other things, she has taught English in South Korea and traveled throughout Europe while getting her Master's Degree (in Medieval History, believe it or not!) at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.

In just under a year in South Lake Tahoe, Lauren has coordinated South Tahoe Earth Day, taught many lessons and written many grants for the South Tahoe Environmental Education Coalition (STEEC), collaborated with nearly every environmental agency and group in the Basin, and inspired countless adults and children with her engaging teaching style.

When you join Lauren for an enjoyable Watering Evening in the woods, you'll know why we hired her!

If you have any questions about watering events, you can reach out to Lauren about being a Water Warrior at lauren@sugarpinefoundation.org.
