John Pickett - Operations Manager
John Pickett founded the Sugar Pine Foundation in September 2004 as a Nevada
non-profit corporation. He is currently an Operations Manager and a remains the
visionary of our organization.
John Pickett holds a Master of Professional Accountancy and 30 hours of
graduate forestry course work focusing on forest pathology. He was the tax
consultant for many organizations and is experienced in all aspects of managing
complex businesses. John also worked for three seasons with the US Forest
Service as a forestry technician. Recently, John served on he bi-state fire
commission formed the governors of Nevada and California. Currently, John
manages defensible space projects around the Tahoe Basin.

Maria Mircheva - Executive Director
Maria Mircheva took over as an Executive Director of the Sugar Pine Foundation in
July 2007. She first volunteered for the Sugar Pine Foundation during the 2006
field season and took over the day to day operations after the Angora Fire, which
kept John fairly occupied.
Maria Mircheva holds a Master in Environmental Science and Management from
UC Santa Barbara focusing on conservation policy. Her undergraduate degree is
in Business Economics and she worked as a business consultant in the Silicon
Valley before she discovered her passion for the environment.
Maria Mircheva took over as an Executive Director of the Sugar Pine Foundation in
July 2007. She first volunteered for the Sugar Pine Foundation during the 2006
